Bratislava, 16 June (TASR) - The pace of implementing the tasks of the Office of the Vice-premier for the Recovery Plan and a Knowledge-based Economy is faster than planned, and the office is several months ahead of schedule, said Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) at a press conference on Monday following his meeting with Vice-premier for the Recovery Plan and a Knowledge-based Economy Peter Kmec (Voice-SD) . Of a total of 221 milestones, 93 have already been met. According to the premier, of the total amount of €6.4 billion under the recovery plan, €3.5 billion is currently in Slovakia's accounts, and another payment of €570 million should be on the way. "In total, the Slovak Republic has already practically more than €4 billion in its own account of the allocated €6.4 billion. Of this, about half has actually been spent, and the other half is now being spent on projects that are set and precisely defined in the recovery plan," stated Fico. According to the premier, Slovakia is currently preparing to apply for the sixth payment. "We want to submit this application as quickly as possible, within this half-year. This payment will be one of the largest, it is more than €1 billion," said the prime minister. There should be nine payments in total, with the last payment request to be submitted in September 2026. The year 2026 will be key for meeting the objectives of the recovery plan, he stated. am/df
