Bratislava, 16 June (TASR) - An investigator of the Internal Affairs Inspectorate (UIS) in late April rejected a criminal complaint regarding the case of former police president Milan Lucansky's death in custody, UIS spokesperson Andrea Dobiasova has confirmed for TASR. News outlet Aktuality.sk was first to break the news. The investigator's decision isn't yet final. "An appeal against the resolution in question was submitted on May 19, 2025, and the prosecutor hasn't yet decided on it," said Dobiasova. Lucansky died on December 30, 2020, a day after he attempted suicide in the detention facility in Presov. An UIS investigator halted the criminal investigation into the case in September 2023. Miroslav Radacovsky, the lawyer of the bereaved, then filed a complaint against this decision, but the complaint was dismissed as unfounded by a prosecutor in February. Radacovsky subsequently filed a request for a review of the legality of the investigator's and prosecutor's decision. The Prosecutor-General's (PG) Office confirmed last July that it hadn't found any unlawful intentional or negligent conduct on the part of members of the Prison and Judicial Guard Corps (ZVJS) in the case of Lucansky's death. Last autumn, Radacovsky informed the media about a new complaint that he filed with UIS on behalf of Lucansky's family, citing new facts as the reason. ko/df
