Kosice, 13 June (TASR) - Voice-SD party ex-member Samuel Migal, currently serving as investment minister (Independent), has called called Voice-SD leader and Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok a liar.
Migal, along with another expelled member of the Voice-SD party, Radomir Salitros, who is holding the post of Investment Ministry state secretary, are demanding an apology from Sutaj Estok for his statement in which he called them "blackmailers".
"We want Matus Sutaj Estok to publicly apologise to us for his statements about blackmailers. They were untrue and harmful. We've never blackmailed anybody, and Matus Sutaj Estok has manoeuvred himself into the position in which he's ended up due to his own clumsiness," stated Migal.
At the same time, the two former MPs are demanding almost €156,000 in compensation for non-pecuniary damages from Sutaj Estok. They want to use this amount, which they calculated according to a share of Voice-SD's state contribution for the election result, on charitable projects. They pointed to the rejection of the criminal complaint filed against them based on the suspicion of accepting a bribe. "The police have investigated and closed the case, the crime didn't take place. What happened behind the closed doors of a single meeting was legitimate political bargaining, nothing more and nothing less. That's why we've come before you today with a clear message," said Migal, who stated that instead of self-reflection in the Voice-SD party, there was repression and their expulsion from the party.
They've given the Voice-SD leader ten days to meet their demand. If he fails to do so, they intend to push for their claim in court by filing a lawsuit to protect their reputation.
