Bratislava, 12 June (TASR) - Nominal monthly salaries increased year-on-year (y-o-y) in all ten monitored sectors in April, although due to inflation, only eight of them recorded real salary growth, with the pace ranging from 3.5 percent in selected market services to 10.2 percent in accommodation and, in most sectors, exceeding the growth seen in the previous month, the Statistics Office reported on Thursday.
The highest nominal monthly salary was recorded in the information and communications sector, where it reached €2,730, although it decreased by €149 when compared to the previous month. In April, average salaries above €1,500 were also reported in industry (€1,755), in wholesale excluding motor vehicles (€1,660), and in sales and repairs of motor vehicles (€1,577). The lowest average salaries were earned by workers in restaurants and pubs (€841) and in construction (€1,178).
When considering inflation, real salaries increased y-o-y in eight of the ten sectors. The most-rapid growth, at 6.3 percent, was reported in accommodation, while salaries in restaurants and pubs also increased by nearly 6 percent. A slight decline of 0.2 percent was reported in selected market services, while in wholesale real salaries remained unchanged y-o-y.
In the first four months of 2025, meanwhile, salaries increased y-o-y in nominal terms across all ten monitored sectors, and in real terms in eight of them. Real salary growth ranged from 1.6 percent in transport including warehousing and in industry, to 4.8 percent in accommodation. After adjusting for inflation, salaries dropped when compared to last year by up to 0.7 percent in selected market services and in wholesale.
