Stats: Employment in April Increased in Half of Sectors Year-on-Year

Bratislava, 12 June (TASR) - In April 2025, employment was year-on-year (y-o-y) higher in half of the monthly monitored sectors – including accommodation, sales and repairs of motor vehicles, restaurants and pubs, retail, and selected market services – though the increase was only very modest, by up to 0.8 percent, the Statistics Office reported on Thursday. In contrast, it declined by 3 percent in wholesale, by 2.6 percent in transport and warehousing, and more moderately – up to 1.9 percent – in industry, construction, and information and communication. Overall, in the period from January to April 2025, employment declined year-on-year in seven out of ten sectors, with changes ranging from a 2.6 percent drop in wholesale to a 2.6 percent increase in accommodation. lin
