Bratislava, 11 June (TASR) - Slovakia's construction output amounted to €603 million in April 2025, down 2.7 percent year-on-year (y-o-y) in fixed prices, the Statistics Office reported on Wednesday.
Seasonally adjusted, construction output decreased by 0.3 percent from the previous month.
The overall result was negatively influenced by 5.5-percent drop in the dominant new construction sector, which fell for the first time this year in April. Repairs and maintenance construction work decreased by 7.7 percent. Conversely, the relatively small component - other construction work - posted a high growth of 50 percent y-o-y. Domestic construction output accounted for 86 percent of total construction output.
Concerning the type of construction, output drop resulted from a 5.3-percent decrease in the dominant construction of buildings. Work on civil-engineering structures, including highways, posted a y-o-y decline in April as well.
Meanwhile, the overall result was positively influenced by the output of Slovak construction firms abroad, which maintained a double-digit growth pace, going up by 14.2 percent y-o-y in April.
In the first four months of 2025, construction output amounted to almost €2.1 billion, going up by 2.3 percent y-o-y. This positive result can be ascribed to the dynamically growing volume of construction work carried out by Slovak firms abroad and a slight increase in the dominant domestic new construction.
