Bratislava, 10 June (TASR) - President Peter Pellegrini has appointed Sylvia Kubinec Benova to the post of chairwoman of the Regulatory Board of the Office for the Regulation of Network Industries (URSO), the President's Office told TASR on Tuesday, adding that the new chairwoman has been a member of the board since 2020.
The chair and members of the URSO Regulatory Board are appointed by the president, with three members being named by a proposal of Parliament, and the other three on proposal of the government. "The council currently has only three members because three seats aren't filled - one for Parliament and two for the government. The Regulatory Council doesn't have a quorum in its current composition," said the President's Office.
Last December, the president appointed Juraj Dolezal as chairman of the Regulatory Board. However, his term as a member of the board ended in May this year, and this also terminated his role as chairman. The newly appointed chairwoman's membership of the Regulatory Board will expire on 31 January 2026, at the same time at which her term as chairwoman will end.
