Bratislava, 9 June (TASR) - The form that was put on the Interior Ministry's website as part of the recruitment campaign for the Police Corps has been filled in by 4,341 people so far, the ministry reported on Monday, adding that it's dealing with each application individually.
"We're sincerely pleased with this number. I see the great public interest as clear evidence that our stabilisation measures have made sense. We've managed to calm the situation in the Police Corps, strengthen public confidence and show that the police still have something to offer. The profession of police officer still retains a high profile and people are interested in being part of it. I appreciate it very much," said Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok (Voice-SD).
The 'Become a Police Officer' recruitment campaign for the ministry, which has cost almost €140,000, is being supplied by a company called Good Rutt's. It is intended to contribute towards resolving the staffing situation in the police, which, according to a recent statement by the interior minister, is currently short of approximately 3,700 police officers.
