RRZ: State Should Start Saving Also in Social Sphere on 13th Pensions

Bratislava, 9 June (TASR) - The state should also start saving in the social area, especially on items such as the 13th pension or the child tax bonus, which appear to be less targeted at present, according to an analysis by the Budgetary Responsibility Council (RRZ). "Slovakia is only a third of the way through the necessary consolidation, which means that it needs to take measures worth almost €5 billion to stabilise its debt over the next few years. After the measures taken in 2024 and 2025, when mainly tax revenue increases were used, the search for savings on the expenditure side is only natural," said RRZ. Given the size of the consolidation, the government will have to consider savings in the social sector in addition to the recommended streamlining of current government operations and health spending. am
