Fifth Annual 'Presidential Drop of Blood' Drive Takes Place on Monday

Bratislava, June 9 (TASR) - The President's Office intends to mark World Blood Donor Day, which is commemorated annually on 14 June, the President Office's communications department told TASR on Monday, adding that the fifth annual 'Presidential Drop of Blood' drive took place at the Presidential Palace on Monday, with more than 40 volunteer blood donors, employees of the office and the public coming to donate blood. The blood donor event was held in cooperation with the National Transfusion Service. Together they donated more than 20 litres of blood. "This is an opportunity to thank all volunteer blood donors for their selfless help in saving lives, to raise awareness of the need for blood donations and to build a strong community of people who give others a second chance of life," said the communications department, adding that it intends to maintain the tradition of mobile donations during the term of office of the incumbent head of state, Peter Pellegrini. am/df
