SHMU Issues High Temperature and Thunderstorm Alerts for Saturday

Bratislava, 6 June (TASR) - Temperatures of 33 degrees Celsius should be expected in some parts of Slovakia on Saturday (7 June) afternoon, prompting the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) to issue first- and second-level alerts against thunderstorms in some districts.
The first level of warning against high temperatures is in place in most of Kosice region and in the districts of Nove Zamky, Levice, Komarno (all Nitra region), Velky Krtis, Rimavska Sobota, Revuca, Poltar and Lucenec (all Banska Bystrica region). They are issued between 2-6 p.m.
Storms should be expected in the whole of Bratislava, Trencin, Trnava and Zilina regions as well as in most of Nitra region. The first level of warnings is in place from 2 p.m. A second-level warning is issued from 6 p.m. for most of Trencin region, and for the districts of Senica, Skalica (both Trnava region), Zilina, Cadca, Kysucke Nove Mesto, Bytca (all Zilina region) and Malacky (Bratislava region).
