Rasi Celebrates 150th Anniversary of Voluntary Fire Brigade in Dobsina

Dobsina, 6 June (TASR) - The town of Dobsina in Kosice region celebrated the 150th anniversary of the founding of its volunteer fire brigade on Friday, with Parliamentary Chair Richard Rasi (Voice-SD), who was in attendance, praising the work of the volunteer firefighters. In his speech, the House chair thanked the current volunteer firefighters and their predecessors and highlighted the significant anniversary of the corps. "In Slovakia we have more than 2,000 volunteer fire brigades, with almost 100,000 volunteer firefighters serving in them. But few have managed to survive as long as you have," stated Rasi, praising the work of the volunteer firefighters. He pointed out that as a doctor working in accident and emergency, he treated many patients with severe injuries. "Many times it was only thanks to the fact that you were the first on the scene where the tragedy happened and your intervention that we had the opportunity to save human lives. It's always the first seconds and the first minutes that are most important," he added. am/df
