Bratislava, 5 June (TASR) - A special House session on the distribution of EU funds at the Agricultural Payment Agency (PPA) won't take place, as MPs opened it on Thursday but then subsequently rejected its agenda.
The session should have addressed a proposal by a group of opposition MPs for Parliament to adopt a resolution regarding suspicions of the misuse of EU funds provided by the PPA for building accommodation facilities with the aim of developing agro-tourism.
Via a resolution, the MPs wanted to ask the prosecutor-general to add a separate section to a report submitted to Parliament with an evaluation of the activities of the prosecution service regarding the possible misuse of subsidies provided by PPA. Agriculture Minister Richard Takac (Smer-SD) should have submitted a report on an evaluation of PPA's activities in fulfilling its supervisory duties. He was also supposed to ensure that the interests of Slovakia are protected and that the EU should take effective measures to allow misused money to be returned.
The MPs also wanted to carry out an MPs' survey at PPA.
