Pecovska Nova Ves, 4 June (TASR) - At its away-from-home session held in Pecovska Nova Ves in the district of Sabinov (Presov region) on Wednesday, the government decided to provide over €2.5 million to help improve the economic and social situation in the districts of Presov and Sabinov, with more than €2 million going to specific local government projects in the two eastern-Slovak districts.
In addition, the government approved €100,000 for equipment for the newly built Church Primary School in Presov's borough of Solivar, while €40,000 will go towards implementing technological measures to address the traffic flows at Presov amphitheatre. According to the approved resolution, the government will support the town of Velky Saris with an amount of €50,000 to equip a new nursery school, and the same amount will help the municipality of Podhorany with a plan to develop project documentation to build a sewage system and a sewage treatment plant.
The resolution also includes tasks for individual ministries to prepare and implement measures to improve the socio-economic situation and living conditions of the region's inhabitants within specified deadlines. One significant part concerns transport projects. For example, Transport Minister Jozef Raz (a Smer-SD nominee) is to oversee the implementation of large-scale repairs on the Branisko-Siroke-Fricovce section of class I road No. 18 by the end of the year.
Environment Minister Tomas Taraba (a Slovak National Party/SNS nominee) and Investment, Regional Development and Informatisation Minister Samuel Migal (Independent) are to discuss the financing and options for developing sewerage and water-supply infrastructure in the region.
