Bratislava, May 28 (TASR) - The report delivered by Slovak President Peter Pellegrini on Wednesday offered a constructive and balanced view on the state of the republic, stated House Chair Richard Rasi (Voice-SD) on the same day.
Rasi is convinced that the report also served as inspiration for the Slovak political scene. He underlined that the speech wasn't tailored to any one political party, but was delivered in the spirit of constitutional balance and impartiality.
"He clearly identified the problems troubling our society and pointed to issues that have long remained stagnant. His remarks were specific, yet addressed in a factual manner toward the government, the coalition and the opposition," said Rasi.
Rasi believes that at a time when society is divided, the president chose a form that did not aim to divide, but to unite. "He didn't take on the role of a judge between camps; on the contrary, he sought a shared vision for our country. I'm glad that the president also acknowledged the government's work in areas in which everyday life for people has improved," he said. The House chair praised the fact that a large part of the report was dedicated to outlining a vision for the future. "Because this part is a vision for the entire governing coalition — that we should have the courage to bring forward solutions that go beyond a single election cycle and have the the courage to eliminate departmentalism within our ministries."
Rasi stated that in relation to foreign policy, Voice-SD remains a guarantor of Slovakia's strong anchoring in the European Union and NATO. "Slovakia, like every country, has the right to a sovereign foreign policy. At the same time, however, it must act as a responsible partner that fulfills its agreements," stated the House chair.
