Bratislava, 28 May (TASR) - An extraordinary session of the parliamentary health committee on the construction of a new national hospital in Bratislava will take place on Thursday (29 May) afternoon, committee chairman Vladimir Balaz (Smer-SD) has confirmed for TASR.
The committee session was requested by the opposition last week.
MPs should look into the aims and method of financing the building of the new national hospital, which should emerge in Bratislava's borough of Vajnory, along with the issue of ensuring that the whole process is transparent. They should also deal with the future of the project to build a hospital in Bratislava's Razsochy area, the plan for the medical concept of the new hospital and the plan for reorganising the provision of state health care in Bratislava region.
A new National University Hospital named after General Milan Rastislav Stefanik is set to be built on land belonging to the Defence Ministry in Bratislava's Vajnory borough. The construction work should be financed by the Renewal Plan, with 2 percent coming from the Defence Ministry's budget and a lesser contribution from the state budget. The building work is supposed to begin as early as this year.
