Bratislava, May 26 (TASR) - Health Minister Kamil Sasko (Voice-SD) needs to realize that savings must not be made at the expense of patients, ex-health minister (2020-21) and MP Marek Krajci ('Slovakia'-For the People-KU alliance) declared on Monday.
According to Krajci, Sasko submitted the new norm on pharmaceutical policy under a shortened comment procedure in order to avoid a public debate on the matter.
„Minister Kamil Sasko must understand that the €200 million he promised to save for Minister Kamenicky in public health insurance cannot be saved on medicines, health, and human lives,” said Krajci.
Krajci pointed out that the government halted the imports of innovative medicines into Slovakia as of August. „As recently as last year, Sasko's predecessor, Dolinkova, signed such unfavorable contracts for the state that by August 2023 they had to stop categorizing innovative medicines because the budget had already been exhausted,” he noted, adding that Dolinkova did not accept the recommendations of the National Institute for Health Technology Assessment. Krajci also criticized the dismissal of the institute’s former director.
