Yerevan, 26 May (TASR-correspondent) - Economic cooperation between Slovakia and Armenia has potential, especially in the defence industry and energy sector, said Economy Ministry State Secretary Vladimir Simonak in Yerevan on Monday, noting that these two sectors are the most prominently represented in the business delegation accompanying Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) on his official visit to Armenia. "I believe that these are precisely the two sectors in which we can establish cooperation with Armenia with the most concrete results," stated Simonak. He explained that in nuclear energy, Slovakia is already supplying some technologies to Armenia for existing older Soviet equipment. "The Slovak nuclear industry is known for providing modern solutions for older Soviet installations. This is exactly the case with Armenia, which operates a Soviet-type nuclear power plant," said the state secretary. The delegation of Slovak entrepreneurs that came to Yerevan with Fico includes several companies from the defence industry, and, according to Simonak, Slovak companies could provide Armenia with supplies such as ammunition, simulators or artillery systems if there is interest in them. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan agreed in Yerevan on Monday that the defence industry and energy sector are the main fields of economic cooperation, and they jointly discussed bilateral cooperation and increasing economic exchanges between Slovakia and Armenia. lin/df
