Bratislava, 24 May (TASR) - Employers are generally satisfied with the skills of the graduates of Slovak universities, according to the first-ever employer satisfaction survey conducted by the Education Ministry in cooperation with the Slovak Centre of Scientific and Technical Information.
Employers responded to 37 questions divided into five areas based on the types of graduates' skills — specifically basic, adaptive, cooperative, professional and organisational skills. They were most satisfied with cooperative skills (such as teamwork and accepting constructive feedback), followed by professional skills (such as applying specialised knowledge to work on tasks and using technology effectively), and basic skills (such as communication, problem-solving and language proficiency).
The survey was conducted last year and canvassed employers from various sectors such as education, professional and scientific activities, industrial production, public administration, health care and information and communications. The Education Ministry reached out to employers of approximately 4,000 recent graduates. The employers assessed graduates of full-time second-level university programmes who had been in permanent employment for at least six months between August 2023 and August 2024.
The results of the Employer Satisfaction Survey will be used to fund the universities that have chosen this indicator as part of their performance contracts.
