She-bear with Two Cubs Attack 49-Years-Old Man in Sucany

Sucany, 24 May (TASR) - A she-bear with two cubs attacked a 49-year-old man in the village of Sucany near Martin (Zilina region) on Saturday afternoon. He suffered several injuries and was taken to hospital, Environment Ministry State Secretary Filip Kuffa reported on a social network on the same day. "The incident took place on the premises of a local firm. The attacked man suffered multiple injuries and was transported by ambulance to the Martin University Hospital. The Fatra Response Team arrived at the scene shortly after that and is currently monitoring the area using a drone equipped with thermal imaging," said Kuffa, adding that the team noted signs of a brown bear's presence at the scene. The state secretary added that several bears are being monitored. According to him, another problematic bear was eliminated in Sucany in cooperation with the Slovak Army some time ago. Kuffa said that 23 bears have been killed so far also with the help of hunters. ko
