Liberation80: Krasnohorske Podhradie Marks End of War with Battle Demonstrations

Krasnohorske Podhradie, 23 May (TASR) - A two-day event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Europe has begun on Friday in the village of Krasnohorske Podhradie (Kosice region) under Krasna Horka Castle, TASR was told by Katarina Prekopova from a civic association called Life under Castle, which is organising the event. The programme includes an exhibition of military equipment on Friday, and there will be a demonstration of the liberation battles, which will also include aviation equipment, on Saturday (24 May). The event on Saturday will start with a presentation of the Slovak Armed Forces, and will continue with speeches and a cultural programme, followed by the liberation battles in the afternoon. "In an engaging way, we will commemorate history and historical facts to which we owe our freedom. In a unique experiential form, and at the same time informative, we will convey how the liberation of the Gemer area took place," said Prekopova, adding that the reconstruction will also include a demonstration of bombing by means of two aircraft enriched with pyrotechnical effects. am
