Bratislava, 23 May (TASR) - MP for the opposition Progressive Slovakia (PS) party Oskar Dvorak welcomes the decision of Health Minister Kamil Sasko (Voice-SD) that the new decree on the medicines policy will come into force only when there is expert consensus on it, TASR was told by Peter Koles from the PS media department.
"Minister Sasko has stopped his decree on the 'stop sign' for new drugs. The public pressure made sense. This is a huge victory for our patients, even though they are already suffering from the poor availability of innovative medicines," stated Dvorak.
Sasko assured earlier on Friday that the draft decree concerning the conditions for the entry of new drugs into the system of reimbursement from public health insurance will be discussed at an expert level. The decree won't enter into force until expert consensus and a sustainable solution is found. The changes were originally due to apply as of June. The draft decree has been criticised by the opposition as well as by professional and patient organisations.
