Bratislava, 22 May (TASR) - Culture Minister Martina Simkovicova (a Slovak National Party/SNS nominee) on Thursday dismissed Gustav Murin from his position as acting director general of the Slovak Literary Centre (SLC), TASR learnt from the ministry's communications department head Petra Bacinska on the same day.
"The culture minister's decision reflects the current situation at the Slovak Literary Centre. We thank Mr Murin for his cooperation so far," Bacinska said in the statement.
In April, the staff of the Slovak Literary Centre (SLC) sent a letter to the Culture Ministry requesting Murin's removal from his position as director. The reason was a report from the ministry's control department, which confirmed the validity of employee complaints about Murin's inappropriate, bullying behaviour, which was damaging the institution's reputation. Murin argued that the content of the employees' complaints sharply contradicted the exceptionally good results achieved by the centre under his leadership in the first quarter of 2025.
