Blanar Due to Leave for Brussels to Talk about Ukraine and Middle East

Bratislava, 20 May (TASR) - Foreign Affairs Minister Juraj Blanar (Smer-SD) is scheduled to attend the European Union (EU) Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels on Tuesday and the EU-African Union ministerial meeting on Wednesday (21 May), the ministry's communications department told TASR on Tuesday, adding that Ukraine and the Middle East will also be discussed.
"EU foreign ministers will discuss on Tuesday the latest developments on peace initiatives to end the war in Ukraine," said the ministry.
According to the communications department, a discussion is expected on the European Commission's intention to end the import of energy from Russia, which Slovakia doesn't agree with in the proposed form. The European foreign ministers will also assess the situation in the Middle East, specifically in Syria and the Gaza Strip.
Blanar will continue his talks in Brussels on Wednesday by attending the third ministerial meeting of the EU and the African Union. He will also hold bilateral meetings with the foreign ministers of several African countries.
