Sobrance, May 16 (TASR) - Parliamentary Chair Richard Rasi (Voice-SD) handed over for use a shared services centre in the town of Sobrance (Kosice region) on Friday. The centre will provide professional services to the town and 46 other municipalities in the surrounding area. "Our municipalities in eastern Slovakia are small. Often you don't even have money for your own salaries or the salaries of the basic apparatus. And this centre should help with the provision of mandatory services - to ensure their quality and at the same time to protect you," said Rasi, adding that of the about 2,900 municipalities and towns in Slovakia, only 21 have the possibility to operate shared services centres, which join together 500-600 municipalities. The shared services centre in Sobrance will provide professional activities in the areas of the building authority, environment, waste management, public procurement, project management and legal services. "The opening of the shared services centre to all municipalities within the district is a huge milestone for public administration in our region. Cooperation is very important, and the main idea of this centre is cooperation and sharing," said Sobrance mayor Jan Sklar. am/df
