Gov't: €195 mn from Recovery Plan to Be Spent on Constructing Presov Hospital

Handlova, May 15 (TASR) - A total of €195 million from the recovery plan will be spent on constructing a new military hospital in Presov, and the remaining €255 million will be funded by the state from its own budget, namely by the Defence Ministry, according to a proposal approved by the government at its away-from-home session in Handlova (Trencin region) on Thursday.
In total, the hospital should cost €450 million, ex-VAT.
"The goal of the investment project called Development and modernisation of the J. A. Reiman University Hospital in Presov is to build a new end hospital, the aim of which is to increase the quality of health care provided in Presov region and eastern Slovakia, especially in the field of diagnosis and treatment of wounded and sick members of the Slovak Armed Forces, NATO and the civilian population," states the document.
The new hospital is to be an end-type medical facility with a total number of 1,009 beds and the option to fully reprofile 1,200 beds. The construction work started last year, and, according to the schedule, it should be built by 2027. The project is being implemented as a strategic investment.
