Bratislava, May 14 (TASR) - M.R. Stefanik Airport in Bratislava ended last year with a profit of almost €2.5 million, achieving a positive economic result for the first time since 2008, Transport Minister Jozef Raz (a Smer-SD nominee) and airport director Dusan Novota jointly reported at Bratislava airport on Wednesday. "We'd like to inform the public and highlight something that Bratislava airport has managed to achieve for the first time in many years; after 16 years it turns out that they ended 2024 in the black. The profit stands at €2.5 million," said the minister, adding that this is a very nice result. According to airport director Novota, this is an exceptional economic result, as the airport company has been posting losses over past years, mainly due to high operating costs and interest payments. Bratislava airport processed more than 1.9 million passengers last year, up by 7 percent when compared with 2023. The number of aircraft take-offs and landings increased to more than 28,000 last year, which was 6 percent more than in 2023. am/df
