Bratislava, May 14 (TASR) - House Chair Richard Rasi (Voice-SD) held talks on Wednesday in Parliament with Ukrainian Ambassador Myroslav Kastran, TASR learnt from Parliament's Office press department on the same day.
According to Rasi, Slovakia is interested in actively participating in the reconstruction of Ukraine, particularly in border regions where he sees potential for implementing joint development projects.
Rasi also spoke with the ambassador about the continuation of Slovakia’s humanitarian support for Ukraine and joint efforts in the post-war reconstruction of the country. “Slovakia is interested in actively participating in the reconstruction of Ukraine, especially in border areas where we see real opportunities for effective cross-border initiatives,” he noted.
The Parliament head appreciated Ukraine’s willingness to engage in peace talks and seek diplomatic solutions. “I welcome every initiative aimed at achieving peace. It is encouraging that Ukraine has declared its readiness to negotiate in Turkey about possible ways to reach a ceasefire,” stated Rasi, who views Ukraine as a stable and reliable partner in the region. “It is in Slovakia’s vital interest to have an independent, democratic, and prosperous Ukraine as a neighbor,” he emphasized.
Rasi added that Parliament is prepared to share Slovakia’s experience in the functioning of parliamentary democracy. “National parliaments play a key role in implementing necessary reforms. We are ready to share our knowledge and support Ukraine where it will be most beneficial,” he concluded.
