Budapest, May 12 (TASR-correspondent) - Parliamentary Chair Richard Rasi (Voice-SD) stated in the Hungarian Parliament on Monday that Slovakia will continue to be a reliable partner in the EU, the TASR correspondent in Budapest has reported, referring to a statement provided by the Parliament Office's communications department.
"We're ready and determined to work closely within the Union to find solutions to global challenges," said the Slovak House chair at a conference of leaders of EU parliaments. The central theme of the conference is the future of Europe.
Rasi discussed issues of national sovereignty, the prospects for European cooperation and for bringing the Union closer to its citizens. "The future of the EU is shaped by the everyday lives of its citizens, and so in order to maintain confidence in the European project, we cannot leave out any citizen or region, and we must act together," added the parliamentary chief.
On this occasion, Rasi held bilateral talks with head of the Cypriot Parliament Annita Dimitriou and his Moldovan counterpart Igor Grosu, but he also met European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, head of the Ukrainian Supreme Council Ruslan Stefanchuk, speaker of the Italian Chamber of Deputies Lorenzo Fontana, speaker of the Austrian National Council Walter Rosekranz and head of the Bulgarian National Assembly Nataliya Kiselova.
Rasi's trip will continue on Tuesday (May 13) with his first official visit to Hungary, during which he's set to meet Hungarian Parliament chair Laszlo Kover, Hungarian President Tamas Sulyok and Hungarian Premier Viktor Orban.
