Premier Fico Arrived in Moscow for 80th Anniversary of End of Second World War

Bratislava, May 8 (TASR) - Premier Robert Fico arrived in Moscow on Thursday evening to attend celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, during which he is expected to hold bilateral talks with leaders including Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, and Vietnam's top representative, TASR has learnt from AFP and TASS news agencies.
Fico was seen in footage broadcast by Russian state television Rossiya 24 greeting Russian officials after disembarking from the aircraft at Moscow airport. The government special aircraft operated by the Slovak Interior Ministry flew to Moscow via Hungary, Romania, over the Black Sea and Georgia, due to Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia denying overflight permission.
The Slovak premier is attending the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Moscow. He had previously stated that he wishes to pay tribute to the thousands of Red Army soldiers who died liberating Slovakia, as well as to the millions of other victims of "Nazi rampage".
