Bratislava, May 8 (TASR) - The commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War serves as a reminder of the cost of peace and as a call for responsibility in relation to the future of Slovakia and Europe, stressed 'Slovakia' party representatives on Thursday, adding that party leader Igor Matovic, Gabor Grendel, and Roman Mikulec will honour the memory of the fallen in WWII in Ukraine, which is currently partly occupied by Russia. "After millions of victims, the horrors of the Holocaust and bombed cities, Europe breathed a sigh of relief eighty years ago. We thought that such a war would never happen again. However, today we can hear explosions once again. Not from the past, but from Ukraine," said Matovic. Along with his colleagues he emphasised society's responsibility not to turn a blind eye to evil and to stand up for the truth. In this context, his party criticised Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) for his trip to Moscow to celebrate the anniversary and for his attitude towards Russian President Vladimir Putin, which it considers to be servile. lin/df
