Bratislava, May 7 (TASR) - On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, Slovak Bishops Conference (KBS) head Bernard Bober has called for vigilance, responsibility and peace-building, the KBS press office told TASR on Wednesday.
Bober pointed to the victims of the war and stressed that true peace is not only a gift, but also an enduring task for everyone.
"The opposite of peace is not war, but egocentrism, which so easily captures the heart of man. I therefore invite all of us to cultivate concern for each other, not to fall into simplistic schemes and hate speeches, but to forgive generously and build bridges of peace," stated Bober.
The KBS head also encouraged all those responsible to stand wisely and courageously on the side of justice and goodness in their political decisions. "Let us not stop believing that a just and sustainable peace is possible," he stressed.
