Bratislava, May 7 (TASR) - President Peter Pellegrini appointed five new judges to the general courts on Wednesday. In his address delivered at the Presidential Palace, Pellegrini emphasized that the role of a judge is not just a job, but a lifelong mission tied to great honor and responsibility. He noted that it will be a demanding and challenging journey, but one that holds significant importance for society as a whole. “The Slovak Republic has been building its statehood for 32 years, and one of its core pillars is an independent, functional, and high-quality judiciary. But the essence of every institution lies in the people who work within it. In this case, that is you,” he said to the newly appointed judges. The president expressed satisfaction that he is appointing young individuals with enough determination, energy, and vitality to handle such a demanding role. He highlighted the importance of professional preparedness, as well as moral and personal integrity, as essential qualities for every judge, enabling them to withstand various pressures, including those from the media. “The current legal framework gives you the tools to overcome these challenges. It grants you complete independence. Your true superior and advisor will be your own conscience,” Pellegrini stated. The newly appointed judges are: Matej Cintala (Kosice Regional Court), Stanislav Huros (District Court in Rimavska Sobota), Lenka Jursová (District Court in Levice), Erika Klimekova (Administrative Court in Kosice) and Patrik Kukula (District Court in Ziar nad Hronom). mf
