Liberation80: Roznava Commemorates End of WW2 with Photo Exhibition

Roznava/Bratislava, May 6 (TASR) - The Pavol Dobsinsky Gemer Library in Roznava (Kosice region) is commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of WW2 with a photo exhibition by Milan Malcek, Tatiana Bachnakova of the Roznava library told TASR on Tuesday.
Through historical photographs, the exhibition presents visitors with key figures and pivotal moments of the wartime years.
“The aim of the exhibition is to preserve the memory of events from 80 years ago and to remind us of the cost of freedom, as well as the heroism and self-sacrifice of thousands of soldiers and civilians who fought against fascist ideology, striving to preserve the values of democracy and human rights,” said the exhibition’s author, Milan Malcek.
Titled '80 Years Since the End of World War II in Europe', the exhibition features historical photographs and seeks to present the events that shaped the fate of nations and influenced world history. It is divided into three main sections: global military figures in the fight against fascism, Czechoslovak figures, and key turning points of the war. The exhibition will stay open to the public free of charge at the Pavol Dobsinsky Gemer Library in Roznava until May 31.
Milan Malcek is a longtime member of the Slovak Union of Anti-Fascist Fighters and an active historian. He comes from a military family and served in the armed forces for more than two decades. He focuses primarily on the study of military history, especially WW2, and for his work, he has been awarded the Milan Rastislav Stefanik Medal (1st and 2nd Class) and received a decoration from the Slovak Defence Minister.
