Zilina, March 6 (TASR) - The opposition Christian Democrats (KDH) are calling on Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) to reconsider his planned trip to Moscow to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, said KDH deputy chairman Viliam Karas on behalf of the party at a press briefing following KDH's regional trip in Zilina.
According to Karas, Fico's announced trip to Moscow is a gesture that will affect everyone in the country. "It will have an impact on the perception of our country throughout our European area, among our neighbours. It will have an impact on the business sphere and it will have an impact on investments, also on the education of our children," he said.
The KDH deputy chairman thinks that the planned trip is a decision that the prime minister is implementing only to further his own personal ambition. "I urge you to fundamentally reconsider your decision to travel to Moscow. I appeal to you because you are set to travel to a country that has provoked a war. This move of yours will go down in history, and it won't be a nice inscription," stated Karas.
