Bratislava, May 4 (TASR) - The opposition 'Slovakia' party has called on Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) not to attend the celebrations in Moscow marking the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, party representatives told a press conference on Sunday, adding that in their view, the premier will directly hurt the Slovak economy and take responsibility for the victims in Ukraine.
"Which reasonable leader of the European Union is going to talk to Robert Fico about some ideas, proposals, when they see that he's going to kiss the ring of Vladimir Putin, a murderer who has also put our country on the enemies list? This is a huge disgrace," said 'Slovakia'-'For the People'-KU parliamentary caucus chair Michal Sipos. MP Veronika Remisova ('Slovakia'-'For the People'-KU) also called on Fico not to go to the Kremlin to legitimise the Russian aggression.
The party also responded to Fico's ambition to reach an agreement with representatives of other political parties on the scrapping of Sunday political discussion shows. "Robert Fico should first of all realise that in every single TV debate representatives of the Smer-SD party and representatives of the governing coalition have the biggest space," pointed out Sipos, noting that whenever the prime minister calls a press conference or decides to go into political discussions, journalists will come and the door to communicate is open.
