Liberation80: Bratislava Castle Hosts Exhibition on Occasion of Liberation

Bratislava, May 3 (TASR) - Visitors to Bratislava Castle can see an exhibition of artworks on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the liberation, entitled 'Victory and the Legacy of the Struggle against Fascism', national heritage institution Matica Slovenska's information centre told TASR. It is installed in the exhibition space under the Courtyard of Honour until May 25. "It carries a strong message of heroism, courage and sacrifice of all those who fought against fascism," said Parliamentary Chair Richard Rasi (Voice-SD) at the opening ceremony (April 24). In his speech, Rasi expressed his deep respect for the fallen heroes, partisans, veterans and all those who contributed to our freedom. He also pointed to the important role of art in preserving historical memory. "Because the works of our artists speak a strong language," stressed the House chair, warning against attempts to rewrite history and downplay fascism. am
