KDH: In Times of Geopolitical Tension, EU Membership Guarantees Security

Bratislava, May 1 (TASR) - On the 21st anniversary of Slovakia joining the EU, KDH leader Milan Majersky stated that EU membership guarantees security, prosperity, democracy, and freedom, but criticised government officials for Slovakia not playing a more active role in shaping European policies. According to Majersky, EU membership has brought Slovakia a higher standard of living and stability, largely funded by contributions from wealthier member states and while the EU isn't perfect, he stressed that it stands for human dignity, freedom of conscience, and expression. KDH believes Slovakia isn't leading on key EU issues and that current government actions undermine its position, adding that anyone questioning EU membership is harming the country, not acting as a patriot or hero. lin/mcs
