Mala Lehota, April 30 (TASR) - The new Milan Rastislav Stefanik National Hospital, which should be built in Bratislava's borough of Vajnory, will be a strategic investment, as the government decided so at its away-from-home session in the village of Mala Lehota (Banska Bystrica region) on Wednesday.
Total investment cost of its construction is estimated at €1.27 billion (ex-VAT).
At the same time, the government agreed that the hospital will be built in close cooperation between the Health Minister Kamil Sasko (Voice-SD) and Defence Minister Robert Kalinak (Smer-SD) and financed from capital expenditures.
The aim of the project is to increase the quality of provided health care and build new beds. The hospital should have 950 beds, including 800 standard ones and 150 ICU. The hospital will be built in the area of the former military barracks in Vajnory, on Regrutska Street in Bratislava.
In line with the draft, 44,000 hospitalisations should be annually completed in the national hospital. The average length of patients' stay in the hospital is estimated at 5.3 days. The project also assumes that the new hospital will run some 150 outpatient departments and 23 operating rooms. The hospital should provide comprehensive care, without the need for unnecessary transfers of patients between workplaces.
