Takac: Slaughter of Bulls at Jurova Farm to Begin as of Tomorrow

Holice, April 8 (TASR) - Slaughter of farm cattle in Jurova (Trnava region), affected by the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease, will begin as of April 9, Wednesday, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Richard Takac (Smer-SD) stated after his meeting with mayors of the region on Tuesday. "Today, all the equipment from Plavecky Stvrtok has been transported to the farm in Jurova, where the slaughter of cattle will begin tomorrow," said the minister, adding that to be slaughtered are about 870 bulls. Takac added that inspections of farms have been launched, which discovered several shortcomings in compliance with mandatory measures. "A great and unpleasant surprise for me is that two farms have refused to let in employees of the State Veterinary and Food Administration and refuse to show them whether they meet the measures," he said and urged farmers to respect the measures. mf
