Bratislava, February 2 (TASR) - The Volt Slovakia party was founded in Slovakia last year, while no party ceased to exist, TASR has learnt from the Interior Ministry's press department.
According to the registry of political parties published by the Interior Ministry on its website, there are currently 55 political parties active in Slovakia.
Three political parties launched processes aimed at dissolving themselves in 2024, namely the Democratic Party, Andrej Hlinka's Slovak People's Party and a party called 'Principle'. A new party, 'Strength of the Nation', is currently collecting the signatures required for registration.
Over 100 political parties are in liquidation. A party ceases to exist on the day on which the ministry removes it from the registry of political parties.
A prospective party needs to collect at least 10,000 signatures from the public before it can request registration with the ministry.
