Bratislava, January 17 (TASR) - Last year was the hottest in the history of measurements in Slovakia, with a maximum temperature of 38.3 degrees Celsius recorded on August 14, climatologist of the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMU) Peter Kajaba has reported at a press conference. Spring 2024 was extremely warm, according to the expert. "This was primarily due to the temperature conditions in the first half of the season. In mid-April, there was a noticeable cooling for about ten days, which was enough to reduce the significant positive deviation of the average spring air temperature from its previous record," Kajaba explained. Kajaba claimed that last year's summer was also record-breaking in terms of heat in Slovakia. According to Kajaba, the autumn was cooler than the previous record-breaking autumn in 2023. lin/mcs
