Bratislava, December 6 (TASR) - The Tourism and Sports Ministry has stated that the failure to approve amendments to the law on sport threatens the financing of sporting activities, and it's expressed disappointment over the situation in Parliament, which wasn't quorate several times when voting on the laws was supposed to take place, TASR was told by the ministry's communications department on Friday. Sports Minister Dusan Keketi (a Slovak National Party/SNS nominee) pointed out that the ministry also discussed the issue on Wednesday (December 4) with MP Samuel Migal (Voice-SD), with whom it reached a compromise. "In the morning [of December 5] we learnt about additional conditions, which also concerned, for example, the Art Support Fund. We tried to be as accommodating as possible, but we didn't meet with understanding. These laws are for everyone, more than 400,000 registered athletes, and Mr. Migal represents minority sports organisations," said the minister. Parliamentary Vice-chair Andrej Danko (SNS) said on Thursday (December 5) that Keketi will continue to negotiate with Migal. Migal was absent last week and during Thursday's vote on amendments to the Sports Act and to the Sports Support Fund, which is why there weren't enough MPs to pass the bills. Migal pointed out that he has some remarks concerning the legislation. am/df
