Bratislava, November 29 (TASR) - Parliament approved on Thursday (November 28) a new list of about 17,000 entities to be exempt from the payment of the new tax on financial transactions, the Finance Ministry reported on Friday.
The transaction tax will come into effect as of April 2025 and won't apply to individuals.
"The latest change will extend the list of entities, exempted from the financial transactions tax, to civic associations and NGOs that provide aid to the people in need or carry out charity activities," stated the Finance Ministry.
Thus the exemption will be extended to, for instance, the Slovak Catholic Charity, Plamienok [Little Flame], Sloboda Zvierat [Freedom for Animals], League Against Cancer, Matej Toth Sports Academy, SPP Foundation, St. Svorad Specialised Hospital, Slovak Villages and Towns Association and the Union of Towns. On the contrary, the exemption won't apply to, for example, political parties, professional organisations, land organisations and public institutions.
