Slovak Technical Museum Closes Some Branches to Visitors Due to Consolidation

Kosice, November 19 (TASR) - The Slovak Technical Museum (STM) has been forced to take several decisions that will affect visits to some of its branches as a result of the recent measures taken by the government to consolidate the economy, TASR was told by the STM presentation department on Tuesday. One move concerns Budimir Manor House (Kosice region) with its permanent exhibition of historical clocks, which has been closed to the public since November 13. The Jozef Maximilian Petzval Museum in Spisska Bela (Presov region) will be closed as of November 23, and the Schuster Family Museum of Cinematography in Medzev (Kosice region) will also be closed by the end of 2024 for staffing reasons. The Technical Museum stressed that it has already faced similar situations in the past three years that have made it necessary to reduce staff numbers and optimise operating costs. "The current 10-percent reduction in staffing costs for civil servants and public-service employees translates into a reduction in STM's staff costs for 2025-2027. Among other consequences, this will be reflected in a certain reduction in the scope of museum services provided to the public," said STM, adding that the decision was taken after consultations with its founder, the Culture Ministry. am/df
