Presence of Asian Hornet Confirmed in Southern Slovakia

Bratislava, October 1 (TASR) - The Asian hornet has been confirmed at being present in southern Slovakia, the State Nature Protection Office (SOP) reported on Tuesday. The insect poses a threat to pollinators, including bees, which make up 80 percent of its diet. Asian hornets are also a threat to people allergic to stinging insects and fruit growers, as they cause damage to fruit tree crops and vineyards. zel/df
