Statistics: Construction Output Down 6.2 percent Y-o-Y in May

Bratislava, July 11 (TASR) - Construction output in May 2024 dropped by 6.2 percent year-on-year, with new building falling by 12.3 percent, the steepest drop so far this year, the Statistics Office has reported. "Output in the construction sector reached €622.2 million in May 2024. The sector failed to maintain the year-on-year growth in output from last month and showed a decline," the office said. The negative trend in the sector affected all components of construction output. In particular, the construction of new buildings recorded poor results, while repairs and maintenance of buildings also fell. The smallest component, other works, fell by more than 18 percent. After seasonal adjustments, construction output dropped by 2.8 percent month-on-month. zel/df
