Bratislava, July 10 (TASR) - The bereaved of lawyer Lubomir Krivocenko, who died after contracting COVID-19 in custody in 2021, will receive €90.000 in compensation, the government decided on Wednesday. The lawyer was remanded in custody from March 2020 until February 2021, when he died. His death was preceded by the spread of COVID-19 in the detention facility in which he was held in. He died in hospital, however. The government noted that the Krivocenko's wife repeatedly asked for increased medical care for her late husband as he was an at-risk patient due to his age of 59 and ailments he suffered from. Her requests were denied, however. Immediately after Krivocenko died, his wife filed criminal complaints to investigate whether her husband died as a result of inappropriate and belated medical attention and whether the authorities played a role in his death. The complaints were dismissed on the grounds that the medical care provided was appropriate and not neglected. zel/mcs
