No Coalition Agreement on Rasi as Joint Candidate for Post of House Chair Yet

Bratislava, May 24 (TASR) - The coalition hasn't agreed on nominating Investment Minister and Voice-SD vice-chair Richard Rasi as a joint candidate for the post of parliamentary chair so far, Rasi himself claimed following a session of Voice leadership on Friday. According to Rasi, coalition leaders haven't even discussed the nomination yet. "We will wait to see what happens after new president Peter Pellegrini takes office and then we'll certainly meet around the negotiating table again," remarked Rasi. The next House chair is expected to be elected after the inauguration of president-elect Peter Pellegrini. The coalition agreement stipulates that the right to nominate candidates for the post belongs to the Voice-SD party, with the party insisting on this right. The post has been vacant since previous parliamentary chair Peter Pellegrini was elected the next president in April. Voice later nominated Rasi as its candidate for the post. Premier Robert Fico said in April that he accepts the nomination, but he added that he thought it would be better for the stability of the coalition if the post belonged to Slovak National Party (SNS) leader Andrej Danko. zel/mcs
