Bratislava, May 23 (TASR) - The government manifesto will no longer be just a declaratory document, its implementation will be regularly checked, Government Office head Juraj Gedra told a news conference following the government session on Thursday, at which the cabinet dealt with drawing of EU funds. "The government manifesto is a political document that has its media attention at the beginning, when the government starts. However, as times goes on, it loses the attention of politicians, the media, as well as the public. We talk about it as about any declaratory document that gives a kind of plan of action for the future. This image of the document is ending today, as we are transforming the government manifesto into specific targets that will be checked and monitored," said Gedra. According to Gedra, 700 tasks have been identified and those have been formulated into 150 targets. "These will be intensively communicated and checked with individual ministries, with relevant officials at individual ministries. The government will be twice a year informed how successful and efficient we are in meeting the government manifesto. It will no longer be just a programme, ideological document, but concrete tasks, targets, milestones will be specified and, of course, we will also be politically responsible for their fulfilment," he added. ko/mcs
